Minnesota Vikings co-owner Mark Wilf has made it clear that the team may be considering selecting a quarterback with one of their first-round picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
The Vikings recently experienced a significant change at the quarterback position with the departure of Kirk Cousins, their starting quarterback for the past six years, who joined the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.
To address this gap in the short term, the Vikings signed former first-round pick Sam Darnold to a one-year contract, but it seems they are exploring long-term solutions through the draft.

Minnesota Vikings co-owner Mark Wilf suggested the team’s openness to making significant moves in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, particularly regarding the quarterback position.
In an interview with Steve Wyche and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Wilf hinted at the possibility of the Vikings making a substantial move to secure a quarterback.
The Vikings currently own the 11th overall pick and the 23rd overall pick., considering their possession of the No. 11 and No. 23 picks in the draft.
“When it comes to the quarterbacks position, it’s certainly critical. (GM) Kwesi (Adofo-Mensah) and coach (Kevin) O’Connell are working hard. We’ve got a plan, and Sam Darnold’s part of it…We’re excited we have two first-round picks….We have a lot of flexibility, and we’ll see what happens.”
Barring any unexpected developments, the Chicago Bears will select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.
Following suit, the Washington Commanders, holding the second overall pick, are anticipated to choose between quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye.
Meanwhile, the New England Patriots, who hold the third overall pick, are also expected to target a quarterback.
If this scenario unfolds as predicted, with quarterbacks going off the board early in the draft, the Minnesota Vikings might find themselves in a position where they need to trade up into the top five to secure the quarterback they desire.
