Former NFL head coach Mike Vrabel recently shared his thoughts on Tom Brady’s appearance in a viral Netflix roast, humorously noting how Brady seemed to have been “airbrushed.”
Despite not being on the event’s guest list, Vrabel expressed admiration for the production.
“The roast was funny. The funny parts. I didn’t sit there for three hours, but there was some funny stuff. There’s a lot of stuff left in there that we could’ve done. I like to age gracefully. I got wrinkles, crow’s feet, scars. There’s just a polish and shine on that face of his right now. He’s like airbrushed,” Vrabel commented.

Brady and Vrabel’s history of roasting each other dates back to their time with the New England Patriots, where they spent eight seasons as teammates.
Their friendly rivalry included annual wagers on the Michigan-Ohio State football game, with each player representing their alma mater. Brady would don Vrabel’s old Ohio State jersey after the Buckeyes’ victories over the Wolverines, notably doing so again in 2012 when Vrabel was coaching at Ohio State.
Their banter continued in 2019 when the Patriots visited the Titans for joint practices. Vrabel playfully teased Brady ahead of their first practice, and Brady responded by gifting Vrabel a mini trophy to commemorate the Titans’ win over the Patriots in 2018. “It was a nice gesture from me to him and hopefully he appreciates it,” Brady told reporters.
The duo’s playful jabs resumed in 2021 during the Buccaneers’ joint practices with the Titans. Vrabel initiated the banter by posting a photo on social media with Brady and his eldest son, captioning it, “Jack Brady talking with his favorite former Patriot. Also pictured, Tom Brady.”
Brady, never one to back down, responded a few weeks later. “Mike’s kind of an [expletive] if you get to know him,” Brady said with a straight face. “He went to Ohio State. Obviously, I don’t like him. There’s a healthy competition between us even though he’s fat and out of shape now. Physically, he’s declined to a really sad state.”
Vrabel, always a good sport, acknowledged that he might be the target of some ribbing from other teammates in the future. “I would hope [someone roasts me],” Vrabel told The Sports Hub. “As much as I gave, I have to probably be ready to accept a little bit.”
Clearly, the playful exchanges between Vrabel and Brady highlight a long-standing camaraderie built on mutual respect and good-natured humor. Their history of ribbing one another adds a personal touch to their professional legacies.
