The fight no one asked for is happening.
Officials have confirmed to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will step into the ring against rising star Jake Paul in a boxing match scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Notably, the event will be broadcast on Netflix.
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming bout, dubbing it a “once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup.” Bidarian predicts that the event could potentially become the most-watched boxing event in modern history.
However, it remains undecided whether the showdown between the 57-year-old Tyson and the YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Paul will be classified as an exhibition or a professional bout.
On another note, Jake Paul boasts a boxing record of 9-1, excluding his victory in an amateur bout against Deji in 2018.
In contrast, Mike Tyson, despite his illustrious career, has suffered six professional defeats, all against esteemed heavyweight opponents who rank among the sport’s greatest.
