Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel backed up his words with action on Sunday, setting the stage for the team’s thrilling victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
The pre-game excitement was captured by HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” featuring Pro Football Hall of Famer and Dolphins legend Dan Marino on the sidelines. Marino met with captains Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Xavien Howard, delivering an emphatic message to the quarterback to “go get their a–.”

McDaniel, standing behind his three players, not only pumped them up to Marino but also engaged in playful banter with the former superstar.
“Our captains are really f—ing good players,” he exclaimed. “Holy s—, look at these f—ing studs. … Yeah, Dan Marino! F— your records, Dan. We’re coming for your records, Dan.”
Marino, attempting to energize the crowd at Hard Rock Stadium, had McDaniel playfully taunting him from behind. Marino holds the franchise record for most passing yards in a season (5,084) and touchdowns (48), both achieved during the 1984 season when Miami went 14-2 but lost in the Super Bowl to the San Francisco 49ers.
While Tagovailoa would need exceptional performances in the final two games to approach Marino’s passing records, he has amassed 4,214 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes in the current season.
In the closing moments of the game against the Cowboys, Jason Sanders sealed the victory with his fifth and final field goal, securing a 22-20 win for the Dolphins and clinching a playoff spot.
Mike McDaniel’s entertaining coaching style continues to make him one of the most captivating figures in the NFL.
