The Dolphins are hoping to land a big WR fish.
During the NFL’s league meetings in Orlando, Florida, Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel revealed on Monday that the team extended a contract offer to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. last week.
Beckham visited the Dolphins last week but departed without finalizing a deal. Despite this, McDaniel expressed optimism that negotiations would continue.

“Things went great with him,” McDaniel told reporters of the visit, according to the Miami Herald. “We did make him an offer, and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”
McDaniel emphasized his readiness to coach Beckham if an agreement is reached, stating, “I’m definitely ready to coach him if we can come to an agreement, and I think both sides are trying to work towards that. We’ll see what happens.”
The Dolphins are in search of a No. 3 wide receiver to complement Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle after Cedrick Wilson Jr., who previously held the role, signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent.
Beckham remains a prominent figure in the NFL despite recent declines in production due to injuries. After suffering an ACL tear in 2020 with the Cleveland Browns, he joined the Los Angeles Rams, contributing to their Super Bowl victory. Beckham then signed with the Baltimore Ravens for the 2021 season, but his tenure was marked by mixed results.
Following the Ravens’ AFC Championship Game loss, Beckham expressed confidence in his abilities and desire to continue playing football. Last week, he bid farewell to Baltimore on social media, with Ravens coach John Harbaugh attributing his departure to financial considerations amidst salary cap constraints.
As negotiations progress, the Dolphins remain hopeful about potentially adding Beckham to their roster for the upcoming season.
