Mike Evans just wants a taste.
One of the NFL’s top receivers is poised to explore free agency this offseason.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Mike Evans intends to test the free-agent market for the first time in his career. Russini emphasized that while Evans is exploring his options, it doesn’t necessarily signal the end of his tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“WR Mike Evans plans to hit free agency for the first time in his career, per sources. Tampa and Evans are in discussions but he wants to explore his options. This doesn’t mean Evans’ time as a Buc is over, but he plans on hearing from all teams before making a decision,” Russini reported.

Selected as the No. 7 overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2014 draft, Evans has amassed an impressive track record over his 10 seasons in the league, appearing in 154 games and consistently surpassing 1,000 receiving yards each year. At 30 years old, Evans is fresh off one of his most stellar seasons, where he notched 79 catches for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns, contributing significantly to the Bucs’ playoff success.
Throughout his career, he’s earned five Pro Bowl selections and secured a Super Bowl victory.
Despite Evans’ decision to explore free agency, reports indicate that the Buccaneers are actively engaged in efforts to retain him for the upcoming season.
