Michigan is actively supporting Jim Harbaugh in response to his suspension by the Big Ten. The university has taken legal measures by filing a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in Washtenaw County Circuit Court. The objective of this legal action is to halt the enforcement of Harbaugh’s suspension throughout the ongoing investigation into the team’s sign-stealing scandal.

The defendants in this case include the Big Ten and its commissioner, Tony Petitti, while Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Board of Regents are the plaintiffs. The legal proceedings are under the jurisdiction of Judge Timothy P. Connors, who, notably, is an alum of Michigan Law and currently serves as a lecturer in its law school faculty.
This legal move follows Michigan’s prior warnings of potential legal action if the Big Ten proceeded with Harbaugh’s suspension. The university contends that there is a lack of concrete evidence directly connecting Harbaugh to the allegations, emphasizing that the decision to penalize him was influenced by pressure from rival Big Ten schools.
