In the aftermath of the New Orleans Saints’ 33-28 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, injured wide receiver Michael Thomas expressed his dissatisfaction with quarterback Derek Carr’s performance.
Thomas appeared to criticize Carr multiple times during the game, as the Saints’ offense struggled to find its rhythm. Despite the team’s efforts to mount a comeback, the Lions secured the victory after establishing a 21-0 lead in the first quarter at Caesars Superdome.

Carr, who completed 17 of 22 pass attempts for 226 yards and one touchdown, faced challenges before leaving the game in the fourth quarter due to back and shoulder injuries. Additionally, he entered the concussion protocol, leading to Jameis Winston stepping in as his replacement.
Following the game, Thomas deleted his account on X (formerly Twitter), indicating his frustration. Fans also voiced their discontent with the Carr-led offense, audibly cheering whenever situational quarterback Taysom Hill took the field instead of Carr. Carr received boos upon returning under center for the snap, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Hill contributed with a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, while Winston managed 2-for-5 passing with 41 yards in his brief appearance.
Despite the Saints signing Carr to a four-year contract in the past offseason, the team has struggled, averaging only 21.4 points per game and currently holding a 5-7 record.
