The Philadelphia Phillies were undoubtedly thrilled with Michael Lorenzen’s home debut.
The pitcher, who was acquired by the team just before the trade deadline on August 1, showcased his talent in a remarkable manner.
In his first game for the Phillies, Lorenzen only allowed two runs over eight innings, contributing to a 4-2 victory against the Miami Marlins.
However, Lorenzen managed to surpass this impressive performance in his following start.
In a game against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, the newly-acquired pitcher achieved the incredible feat of throwing a no-hitter.
With four walks and five strikeouts, Lorenzen left the Nationals without a hit throughout the entire game. Not only did he secure his second victory with the Phillies, but he also helped elevate the team to hold the third-best record in the National League.
What made this no-hitter even more special was the presence of Lorenzen’s loved ones at Citizens Bank Park. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s TV cameras captured glimpses of his wife Cassi, daughter June, and mother Cheryl, all watching the game attentively.
Lorenzen left Cincy to get a chance to be a starting pitcher. Nearly 2 years later and Philly trades for him to help to bolster their rotation. The Philly crowd was great. His mom, wife, and baby are there. What a night. pic.twitter.com/idVSpWYFoU

Fans watching the game greatly appreciated these shots of Lorenzen’s family during the tense moments of the ninth inning, heightening the drama. Although the Phillies allowed Lorenzen to throw 124 pitches in this historic start, he rose to the occasion and made history in front of his family.
It was an unforgettable moment for both the pitcher and his loved ones.
