Michael Jordan still making moves.
Last week, the Charlotte Hornets announced that governor Michael Jordan will be selling his majority ownership stake in the team to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall.
Despite this news, Jordan will still have the final say in the Hornets’ pick during the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday night, where they will have the second overall pick.
Michael Jordan will have the final say of who the #Hornets select at No. 2, Kupchak said.

General Manager Mitch Kupchak confirmed this during a press conference on Wednesday, adding that Jordan usually defers to him on roster matters.
But Jordan's opinion isn't the total end game. "He's always, at the end of the day, deferred to me," Kupchak said. "I can't think of too many times that we weren't on the same page."

The pick will be between Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller, with Henderson ranked as the second overall player on SB Nation’s draft board and Miller being considered a better fit with point guard LaMelo Ball.
While Jordan’s past draft history has not been great, the new ownership group’s decision to allow him to make such a consequential pick is fascinating. If Jordan does end up selecting Miller, it could mean that the Hornets are gearing up to take him over Henderson.
The Blazers’ pick will then become more valuable, as it could lead to acquiring the highly-coveted Henderson.
The answers to these questions will be revealed during tomorrow evening’s draft, but why Jordan is making this pick for Charlotte remains unexplainable.
