NBA icon Michael Jordan has formally acknowledged the comparisons drawn between his playing style and that of Anthony Edwards.
During a segment on FS1’s First Things First, Chris Broussard revealed, “I reached out to the GOAT today, Michael Jordan, and Jordan confirmed the similarities in their games. He concurred. So, if Jordan acknowledges the parallels, they indeed exist.”
Edwards, who is rapidly ascending as a standout talent for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been consistently likened to Jordan throughout the season due to his mentality, flair, athleticism, and overall skill set.

The comparisons gained traction back in November when an NBA scout informed ESPN’s Tim MacMahon that Edwards is “the next Michael Jordan.”
Milwaukee Bucks veteran Patrick Beverley echoed this sentiment that same month, informing reporters, “I told everyone from the beginning” that Edwards “has a chance to be Michael Jordan.” Beverley added that he was met with skepticism when making such assertions.
The buzz surrounding Edwards’ potential reached new heights after his viral dunk over Utah Jazz veteran John Collins, prompting yet another parallel to the legendary Chicago Bulls figure.
However, Edwards, in an interview with Complex’s Speedy Morman in December, expressed his desire for the Jordan comparisons to cease. “I just want them to stop,” he stated. “Because he’s the greatest to ever play basketball, and I’m so far from it.”
At 22 years old, Edwards is currently posting impressive averages of 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists across 65 games this season. He boasts shooting percentages of 46.7% from the field and 37.0% from beyond the arc.
With Edwards’ contributions, the Timberwolves find themselves in second place in the Western Conference with a record of 47-21, positioning them as legitimate contenders for a deep playoff run, perhaps even a shot at the NBA Finals.
