The brother of Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons claims that an ex-NFL icon harbors animosity toward Dak Prescott after the quarterback was notably snubbed from a list of top five quarterbacks as he gears up to lead the team in the 2024 NFC East.
Prescott, who is aiming to guide America’s Team beyond the NFC Wild Card round and into the Conference Championship game for the first time since 1995, has faced skepticism about his abilities despite an impressive 2023 season where he threw for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns. One prominent critic is former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, who omitted Prescott from his list of the top five NFC quarterbacks on ESPN’s Get Up show.
“You ask me to rank the NFC quarterbacks,” Orlovsky said. “It’s Matthew Stafford at one, I’d probably put Jordan Love at two and Brock Purdy at three. If you flip flop those guys, I’d have no argument. I’d put Kirk Cousins at four, Jared Goff at five.”
This omission was particularly striking, considering Prescott’s status as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback on a $40 million salary. Micah Parsons’ brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., didn’t hold back in expressing his disbelief at Orlovsky’s ranking.
“I’m convinced Dan has a deep hatred for Dak,” Terrence Parsons Jr. commented on X.com, formerly Twitter. His post, reacting to Orlovsky’s snub, garnered significant attention with 437 likes.

Despite the criticism, Prescott had a standout year, being ranked as the 16th best player in the NFL for the 2023/24 season. He led the Cowboys to the NFC Wild Card round, where they were eventually eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in a high-scoring 48-32 loss, despite scoring over 30 points.
Prescott’s performance earned him MVP considerations, and many anticipated a swift new contract with Jerry Jones’ Cowboys. However, negotiations have stalled, leaving fans eager for updates. Recently, Executive Vice-President Stephen Jones provided a rare insight into the situation.
“Right now, the ball is in Dak’s court,” Jones told San Antonio’s Sports Star. “And we’re waiting to hear from them. They understand the ball is in their court.”
As Prescott prepares for the 2024 season, the Cowboys’ hopes rest heavily on his shoulders. His ability to lead the team deep into the playoffs and potentially secure a Conference Championship will be crucial.
Meanwhile, the ongoing contract negotiations add another layer of complexity to an already high-stakes season for Prescott and the Cowboys.
