In 2023, witnessing Micah Parsons’ confrontations with the referees is quite a spectacle.
The Dallas Cowboys initially secured an early lead against the Dolphins on Sunday, but the game took a turn for the worse after a roughing the passer penalty was called on edge rusher Micah Parsons, giving Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami team an opportunity to score just before halftime.

Following the pivotal play, Parsons had to be restrained by a teammate.
Post-game, the Cowboys linebacker expressed his frustration with the referees, addressing both the roughing the passer call and instances where he was held without receiving a penalty flag. He commented, “It’s mind-blowing, the things that are getting called, and the positions that we get put in. We just have to learn how to fight the adversity. I know a lot of it is BS, but it’s the world we live in. We’ve got the star on our helmet. … It’s just hard to play defense.”
Regarding the roughing the passer penalty, Parsons explained, “(The ref) said my intent was to punish the quarterback. How am I trying to punish him if I’m just trying to sack him? It’s not like it was a late hit. It’s not like I’m leaving my feet. I didn’t lead with my head. I don’t know how you make that call.” Notably, this was the first time Parsons received a roughing penalty all season.
During the 22–20 loss to Miami, Dallas accumulated six penalties for 38 yards, while the Dolphins received five penalties for 33 yards.
The defeat against the Dolphins marked the Dallas Cowboys’ second consecutive loss, constituting their first losing streak in two years. As they head into a crucial game against the NFC North-champion Lions, the Cowboys aim to rebound. While being part of the Cowboys may sometimes create a perception of everyone being against them, Parsons and the team remain resilient in the face of challenges.
