The most effective method to clarify the situation is to directly address it on social media.
Mecole Hardman has taken to social media to refute recent allegations circulating on social platforms, claiming that he disclosed the New York Jets’ game plans to their opponents during his time with the team.
Addressing the accusations directly, Hardman asserted, “There were FALSE accusations made about me and MY CHARACTER! To set the record straight, I have never and would never leak game plans to another team.” He emphasized his unwavering commitment to winning and affirmed, “I have never been a person to give an opponent an upper hand I always want to win no matter the circumstances!!!!!”
Hardman joined the Jets last offseason with the expectation of becoming one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’s primary targets in the passing game. However, his playing time was limited to just five games before being traded back to the Kansas City Chiefs in October.
Reports surfaced on Wednesday, with SNY’s Connor Hughes indicating a “validated belief” within the Jets’ locker room that Hardman had leaked game plans to the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs ahead of matchups last season. While cornerback Sauce Gardner and tight end Kenny Yeboah hinted at similar sentiments on social media earlier in the week, both posts have since been deleted.
The Jets suffered a 23–20 defeat against Kansas City in Week 4 and secured a 20–14 victory over the Eagles in Week 6, after which Hardman was traded back to the Chiefs.
Despite playing a limited role in Kansas City’s offense, Hardman made a notable impact in Super Bowl LVIII, catching three passes, including the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
Now an unrestricted free agent, Hardman aims to secure a spot with one of the NFL’s 32 teams, although it appears unlikely to be with the Jets.
