Marshawn Lynch, the former NFL star, made a notable appearance in the world of hockey this week when he was seen cheering on the Seattle Kraken at the NHL game against the Winnipeg Jets in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Dressed in a Kraken jersey, Lynch was a standout presence in the lower bowl of the Canada Life Centre.
His support for the Seattle team isn’t surprising considering his deep connections to the city. Lynch spent seven successful seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he became a beloved figure, contributing significantly to their Super Bowl XLVIII victory and another nearly won championship.
The sight of Lynch at the game quickly became a talking point on social media among NHL fans, excited to see the legendary running back in a different arena.

However, Lynch’s involvement with the Kraken extends beyond mere fandom.
In April 2022, he joined the NHL team’s ownership group, a move he made alongside rapper Macklemore. This addition to the ownership team marked a significant milestone in Lynch’s post-NFL career.
Lynch expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity, saying in 2022, “I always dreamed of playing on a professional team, but owning one is something special.” While the exact financial details of his investment have not been disclosed, such minority equity stakes usually represent around 1% or less of a team’s total value.
Since retiring from the NFL in 2019, after a brief comeback that followed his initial 2016 retirement, Lynch has ventured into various ownership roles. He has stakes in the Indoor Football League’s Bay Area Panthers, the Fan-Controlled Football League’s Beasts, the Professional Fighters League, and serves as a brand ambassador for the Oakland Roots SC of the USL Championship.
His involvement with the Seattle Kraken marked another chapter in his diverse career in sports management and ownership.
