Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has reached a plea deal in his drunk-driving case in Las Vegas, likely sparing him from prison time.
Lynch was facing a misdemeanor DUI charge after being found asleep at the wheel of his car in 2022. However, his legal team negotiated a plea bargain with prosecutors, averting a trial that was scheduled to begin this week.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Lynch must fulfill certain requirements, including 200 hours of community service, attending DUI school, and paying a $1,140 fine. If he meets these conditions, the case will be closed as a reckless driving traffic offense.

Despite his arrest, Lynch has not been convicted of any offense at this time, according to his attorneys Richard Schonfeld and David Chesnoff.
The incident occurred when Lynch was found to have a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. He was arrested by Las Vegas Metro Police and booked for driving under the influence.
This is not the first time Lynch has faced legal trouble related to driving. In 2008, he pled guilty to a hit-and-run charge after allegedly hitting a woman with his car. He also faced a DUI arrest in 2012, resulting in a plea deal for reckless driving.
Despite these incidents, Lynch has enjoyed a successful post-playing career, including ventures into sports ownership and entertainment. He remains a beloved figure among sports fans, particularly in the Seattle area, where he won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2013.
