If there’s a single individual who truly encapsulates the essence of the Las Vegas Raiders, it would have to be Marshawn Lynch.
The Las Vegas Raiders are likely to expand their search for a new head coach this offseason after the departure of Josh McDaniels, who was fired just 25 games into his tenure. Former Heisman trophy winner and Pro Bowl quarterback, Robert Griffin III, recently proposed a rather unconventional candidate for the coaching role.
In a post on X, Griffin suggested that the Raiders should consider giving Marshawn Lynch an interview for the head coach position. Griffin argued that Lynch’s passion for the Raiders and his distinctive style and mentality could make the team formidable if he assembled an experienced coaching staff.

“Alright…hear me out. Marshawn Lynch should AT LEAST get a HEAD COACH interview with the Raiders this off-season. Lean into the Raider way, team becomes feared with his style and mentality. Load up his staff with experience and proven coordinators. Who says no?” Griffin wrote.
However, the overwhelming response to Griffin’s suggestion was quite the opposite. Most people disagreed with the idea, pointing out that the last coach to land an NFL head coaching job with no prior coaching experience, Jeff Saturday with the Colts last year, had a disastrous run.
“I love Marshawn Lynch but he is not a football coach. I’ve never heard a worse idea,” one user replied.
“In a world of terrible ideas, this is, honest to god, the worst idea I’ve ever heard,” wrote another.
“Marshawn Lynch has literally zero coaching experience at any level of football. lol come on,” a third wrote.
While the chances of Lynch becoming the Raiders’ head coach are extremely unlikely, it’s worth noting that the Raiders have typically followed the conventional route when hiring coaches, with mixed results.
