Marquez Valdes-Scantling has faced challenges integrating into the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive scheme this season. Despite being the team’s sixth-highest-paid player, Valdes-Scantling has managed only 17 receptions for 273 yards and one touchdown in the first 12 games of the 2023 season.
During a recent visit to the Chiefs locker room, digital sports reporter P.J. Green from FOX4 News Kansas City inquired about Valdes-Scantling’s struggles, prompting a somewhat dismissive response from the veteran wide receiver. Valdes-Scantling appeared indifferent to the questions, expressing uncertainty about the topic at hand.

“I don’t really know what you’re referring to,” Valdes-Scantling replied when pressed about the dropped balls impacting the Chiefs’ standings in the AFC playoff race. “It is what it is. It’s football; [you’re] not going to make every play. It’s not really anything going on that doesn’t happen in any other season, that doesn’t happen to any other player in this league.”
Chiefs fans on social media seized on the veteran receiver’s nonchalant response, particularly after he posted a reply to Green’s video on Twitter.
The consensus among fans is that Valdes-Scantling should let his performance on the field speak for itself, as actions often carry more weight than words, and that’s precisely the point.
