Malik Nabers has a clear message for Daniel Jones: “Malik is going to be open.” Nabers made this confident assertion on Friday afternoon, following his selection by the New York Giants as the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
On Thursday night, Giants General Manager Joe Schoen chose to stay with the sixth pick and bypassed Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who could have replaced Jones. After an attempt to trade up for quarterback Drake Maye at No. 3 failed, Schoen selected Nabers, a top-tier wide receiver from LSU.
Upon arriving at the Giants practice facility, Nabers seemed less than thrilled, and his initial interaction with Daniel Jones was notably awkward. The encounter was so uncomfortable that the Giants’ social media team opted not to post it.

With Nabers, the Giants are introducing a formidable No. 1 receiver to their lineup, aiming to revitalize a lackluster offense while continuing, for the time being, with Jones as their quarterback. Nabers is poised to be a significant playmaker, reminiscent of the impact Odell Beckham Jr. had, who was also drafted from LSU a decade earlier and traded to the Browns after the 2018 season.
