Mac Jones had an interesting outreach to former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, among the many successful quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.
New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones recently reached out to former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky for guidance. Orlovsky discussed this interaction during his appearance on WEEI’s “Jones and Mego.”
Orlovsky mentioned, “I’ve had guys reach out to me and ask for it… Mac had reached out a while back and had kind of said, ‘Hey, if you see anything good or bad, let me know, please.'”
Orlovsky, who played eight seasons in the NFL, had his standout year in 2008, amassing 1,616 passing yards and eight touchdowns.
Jones has faced challenges this season, throwing for 1,641 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions. It has been a rocky road for the Alabama product during his NFL journey.
It’s worth noting that Jones reportedly sought external assistance from Alabama last season, which didn’t sit well with the Patriots. One might wonder if there will be any repercussions from this situation.
Additionally, it’s important to remember that Orlovsky didn’t specify a timeframe for Jones’s request. Jones could have sought help at any point. Orlovsky also mentioned assisting multiple quarterbacks behind the scenes, suggesting that Jones isn’t the sole quarterback seeking his guidance.
It’s no secret that Jones is committed to improving his game. However, the desired results have been elusive lately. If Jones intends to alter the course of his career and contribute to a successful Patriots season, he’ll need to make a comeback.
Whether Orlovsky’s advice will lead to greater success for Mac Jones remains to be seen.
