This isn’t the inaugural instance of a live interview featuring an expletive, and it certainly won’t be the concluding occurrence.
While Luka Doncic’s on-court performance appears to be far from rusty as the season begins, his interviewing skills tell a different tale.

Following Dallas Mavericks’ 126-119 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth interviewed Doncic. He had an impressive stat line of 33 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in the game. However, rather than focusing on his own performance, Doncic was asked about teammate Dereck Lively II.
Lively, the 12th overall draft pick for Dallas, put up an impressive 16 points and 10 rebounds in his NBA debut.
“He played exceptionally well for his first game. … I remember my first game, I was nervous. He didn’t seem nervous. He played brilliantly,” Doncic remarked, with an expletive slipping out unintentionally. He quickly apologized for his language.
Dallas has now commenced the season with a 1-0 record, looking to make amends for last year’s disappointing 38-44 finish. Lively could be a significant factor in their potential improvement this season.
It’s apparent that Luka is eager to secure a championship.
