Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso has been embracing life following her controversial exit from the Olympic Village in Paris, where she faced accusations of “inappropriate” conduct.
The 20-year-old athlete, who recently retired from competitive swimming, took to Instagram to share glimpses of her post-Olympic life, signaling that she’s moving forward with positivity.
Alonso, who competed in the 100-meter butterfly at the Summer Games, narrowly missed advancing to the semifinals, falling short by just 0.24 seconds. Following her race on July 27, she announced her retirement from the sport.
In the days since, Alonso has been active on social media, where she posted a collage of photos on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, including a snapshot of herself modeling a black bikini. “Life been good,” she captioned the post, reflecting a sense of contentment despite recent controversies.

In addition to the bikini photo, Alonso shared other snapshots from her day-to-day life, including one where she donned a black hat, Nike jacket, shorts, and tall boots. Another image featured a meal accompanied by Vita Coco coconut water, and she also posted a gym mirror selfie with the simple caption, “Tired.”
Alonso had previously gained attention ahead of the Paris Games for her Olympic rings tattoo on her hip, but her actions outside the pool during the Games brought her even more into the spotlight. The Paraguayan Olympic Committee accused Alonso of creating an “inappropriate” environment within the team, leading to her departure from the Olympic Village.
“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” said Larissa Schaerer, head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, in a statement published by The Sun on August 5. Schaerer noted that Alonso left the Olympic Village voluntarily after being advised to do so.
In response to the allegations, Alonso addressed the situation in a since-expired Instagram Story, denying any misconduct. “I just wanted to make it clear that I was never removed or expelled from anywhere, stop spreading false information,” she wrote, according to The Daily Beast. “I don’t want to give any statement, but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”
Reports suggest that Alonso’s behavior, which included taking trips outside the Olympic Village and not wearing the official team uniform, upset Paraguay’s Olympic leadership.
She was also seen enjoying Disneyland Paris and shopping at high-end stores, further fueling the controversy. According to The Daily Mail, Alonso’s choice of “skimpy clothing” and socializing with other athletes became a distraction to her teammates.
Despite the controversy, Alonso seems to be enjoying life after her swimming career. Her recent social media activity reflects a focus on self-care and personal happiness, signaling that she’s moving forward with her life and leaving the drama behind.
Her journey from the Olympic pool to retirement may have been turbulent, but Alonso appears determined to live life on her own terms.
