LSU standout Flau’jae Johnson will see her popularity soar with Caitlin Clark fans.
In an interview on “The Baller Alert Show,” Johnson lauded the former Iowa Hawkeye Clark for her significant contribution to the elevation of women’s basketball during the past season.
“It’s good for the game. Caitlin Clark, say what you want, she’s a star,” Johnson said. “America has gravitated to her and it’s only putting the women up more and more so I love it.
“It’s beautiful for me to see because I’m right in the middle of it. I got to share the court with her two times. She’s a good player. I love it. I think it’s going to give more opportunities for women like me coming up in the next era of college basketball.”

Johnson also defended her former teammate, Hailey Van Lith, who received much criticism for her inability to defend Clark in their Elite Eight loss to Iowa last month.
“No, no, we can’t do that,” she said, defending Van Lith’s effort in guarding Clark. “You could not guard that girl for 40 minutes. But she stepped up for the challenge at the end of the day. I had to follow the scouting report.”
Van Lith is now with the TCU Horned Frogs after announcing her transfer from LSU in April.
This past season, Johnson averaged 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for LSU.
She will return to the LSU Tigers as their star player following the departures of Van Lith to TCU and Angel Reese to the WNBA.
