LSU running back Trey Holly was apprehended on Thursday in connection with a recent shooting incident that resulted in injuries to two individuals.
As per Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates, Holly voluntarily surrendered to authorities and was charged with three felonies: attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of a weapon. The charges relate to an alleged occurrence at a Farmerville, La., apartment complex the previous Friday.
Per a Farmerville Police Department report, a woman sustained critical injuries after being shot thrice, while a man suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg. Investigation revealed that multiple shooters discharged firearms during the incident. Alongside Holly, two others were apprehended. Sheriff Gates mentioned that the investigation remains ongoing, with expectations of further arrests.

The shootings are believed to have originated from an earlier altercation during the day.
LSU addressed the situation in a statement, announcing Holly’s indefinite suspension from all team activities.
“We are cognizant of the arrest of a student-athlete in connection with a shooting in Union Parish. In adherence to departmental protocols, this student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team engagements. In deference to the legal proceedings, we refrain from additional commentary,” stated the university.
Holly, gearing up for his second season with LSU, recorded 11 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown in 2023, with a notable performance against Army on Oct. 21, where he rushed for 91 yards and scored. He previously took a redshirt year after featuring in just three games.
A former 4-star recruit, Holly etched his name in Louisiana high school football lore by setting a record of 10,523 rushing yards across five years at Union Parish High School.
