Former college football coach Lou Holtz appears to have hinted at his preference for the upcoming presidential election.
In a recent post on X, Holtz stated, “We need to coach America back to greatness.” This statement seems reminiscent of former President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
It’s worth noting that Holtz was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in December 2020, during the final month of Trump’s term. At the time, Holtz spoke highly of Trump, praising him as the “greatest president” in his lifetime during an interview with Fox News.

Holtz expressed mixed emotions about receiving the award, acknowledging both his humility and appreciation. He also expressed admiration and respect for Trump’s leadership, stating that he believed Trump had done a tremendous job.
In response, Trump referred to Holtz as a “life teacher” whom he respects.
Given Holtz’s past statements and interactions with Trump, it seems likely that he will support Trump in the upcoming election.
