The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed forward Taurean Prince, as announced back in July by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager, Rob Pelinka.
Standing at 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 216 pounds, Prince makes his way to the Lakers after spending the last two seasons (2021-2023) with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the 2022-2023 season, Prince made appearances in 54 games, with four of those as a starter, averaging 9.1 points with a shooting percentage of .467 from the field and .381 from beyond the arc. He also contributed 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in approximately 22.1 minutes per game.
It seems that Taurean Prince’s Lakers journey has encountered an early controversy. A woman on Instagram, who appears to have had a relationship with Prince, has vehemently criticized the Lakers forward. She utilized her Instagram platform to publicly call out the NBA player.
“Taurean Prince is a fu*cking clownnnnnn ass liar. I never been the one but today I am. F you and your cold ass heart.”

Taurean Prince appears to have a challenging situation on his hands, and it seems like he’ll need to engage in some damage control. It’s difficult to fathom the circumstances that could have prompted such a strongly negative public response.
Throughout his seven-year NBA career, which included stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers (2020-2021), Brooklyn Nets (2019-2021), and Atlanta Hawks (2016-2019), Prince has played in 424 games, with 222 starts, and holds averages of 10.4 points (shooting .421 from the field and .372 from three-point range), 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game over approximately 23.9 minutes of play. The 29-year-old forward has also made playoff appearances for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2021-2023) and the Atlanta Hawks (2016-2017), during which he averaged 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 16 games, including seven as a starter.
A native of Texas, Taurean Prince was selected as the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.
This followed a successful four-year collegiate career (2012-2016) at Baylor University, where he earned All-Big 12 First Team honors in his senior season. During that standout year, he posted averages of 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 30.6 minutes per game.
