Longtime sports broadcaster Bob Costas has entered the debate.
The entire sports media world has been buzzing about Chennedy Carter’s blatant cheap shot foul on Caitlin Clark during Saturday’s game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, and Costas wanted to join the party.
On Monday, sports broadcaster Bob Costas became the latest member of the media to chime in on the nonstop debate regarding Chennedy Carter’s hard foul on Caitlin Clark.
During the latest edition of CNNs “NewsNight,” Costas claimed that the media was being unfair and hinted at racial bias in their coverage of the WNBA.

Costas mentioned the hard foul that Chicago Sky rookie star Angel Reese took at the hands of the Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas.
“The reason why that doesn’t spark as much conversation isn’t just that Caitlin Clark is a bigger star than Alyssa Thomas,” Costas said. “It’s because it’s a Black-on-Black incident and you don’t have that dynamic that people can comment on, yes, but also exaggerate and make the entire story sometimes.”
It’s unclear if Costas meant to say “Angel Reese” instead of “Alyssa Thomas” in his above statement as that would make much more sense comparing the two players that were subjected to hard fouls.
Regardless, there are plenty who agree with Costas’ sentiments on the topic.
Reese and the Sky take on the New York Liberty tonight while Clark and the Fever don’t play again until Friday night as they have a match-up with the Washington Mystics.
