The New York Jets conducted mandatory minicamp this week without veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has been occupied with other matters.
Longtime NFL reporter Jason La Canfora took the opportunity to criticize Rodgers’ political beliefs in response to his absence.
“If only Aaron Rodgers cared about football as much as he did conspiracy theories and anti-science, the Jets might have a fighting chance,” La Canfora wrote on social media. “Oh well. Same as it ever was.”

La Canfora faced backlash for his post, with some fans deeming his comments unnecessary.
Regarding Rodgers’ absence, Jets coach Robert Saleh labeled it as unexcused.
FS1’s Colin Cowherd reported on Wednesday that Rodgers is on vacation overseas, which would be a questionable reason to miss mandatory minicamp.
“An event? I was told last night from a source I trust, Aaron is on vacation and it’s overseas,” Cowherd said. “I was also told you’ll learn about where he’s at tomorrow. I don’t want to burn my source. I’m told you’ll learn about it tomorrow.”
One thing is certain: Aaron Rodgers will face many questions about his absence from minicamp once he returns.
