The Detroit Lions have made a definitive move regarding the player who has been the subject of a two-week police search.
In a statement released by the team, it was announced that the Lions have parted ways with defensive back Cameron Sutton. This decision follows the issuance of an arrest warrant for Sutton by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on March 7.
“Lions have released CB Cam Sutton,” the team stated succinctly on social media.

Here’s a deeper look into the situation, as reported by ESPN:
According to Phil Martello, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officials have been unsuccessful in locating Sutton since the warrant was issued. The warrant stemmed from an incident on March 7, when police responded to a call at a residence in Lutz, Florida, alleging that Sutton had assaulted a woman before fleeing the scene.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office informed ESPN that there were visible injuries on the woman’s body as evidence of the altercation.
While Sutton maintains a residence in nearby Pinellas County, police have been unable to locate him there, and he has not responded to repeated attempts to contact him by detectives, Martello explained.
The Lions acquired Sutton as a free agent following the 2022 season, during which he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his time with the Lions, the former third-round draft pick participated in all 17 games, tallying a total of 60 tackles, six passes defended, and an interception.
