Opinions on quarterback rankings vary among individuals, and teams also have their own unique ways of valuing running backs in the modern NFL.
Former NFL player Le’Veon Bell, who knows the New York media well from his time with the New York Jets, has voiced his thoughts on the current market, specifically taking a dig at Daniel Jones, the QB of the New York Giants. Bell appears to be irked by the fact that Saquon Barkley, a Pro Bowl running back, signed a one-year contract worth ‘up to’ $11 million in free agency, while Jones received a four-year, $160 million contract, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.
The significant difference in annual salary between Barkley and Jones, despite being in the same year’s earnings ranking, highlights a disparity.
Bell expressed his views on Jones and Barkley during an interview with Rob Maadi, stating that Jones is not mediocre but belongs to the bottom tier of quarterbacks, while Barkley is in the top tier for running backs.
“He’s not mediocre. There are average quarterbacks, he’s in the bottom tier. I’m not here trying to talk bad about Daniel Jones. I’m just trying to be real for everybody who’s hearing it. He’s in the bottom tier. Saquon is in the top tier of his position at running back.”

It is evident that there is currently a substantial gap in the pay scale between quarterbacks and running backs in the NFL.
Although teams prioritize the quarterback position, many players, particularly running backs, hope to see this gap narrow in the future. Bell is among those who believe this change should happen sooner rather than later.
The question remains:
Is Daniel Jones truly a bottom-tier QB?
