Oh Father.
LeBron James, well-acquainted with the pressures of being a highly-regarded young basketball talent, took to social media to defend his son Bronny and ease some of the mounting expectations.
In now-deleted tweets, LeBron criticized talent evaluators as Bronny’s name started to fade from mock drafts. “Can y’all please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball,” LeBron urged. “The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know, he doesn’t care what a mock draft says he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!”
Discussing LeBron’s tweets on ESPN’s First Take, Shannon Sharpe likened LeBron’s actions to another well-known NBA father, LaVar Ball, who famously touted his son Lonzo as superior to Steph Curry. Sharpe suggested that LeBron’s previous comments about Bronny’s NBA potential might have inadvertently heightened the scrutiny and pressure on him.

Indeed, LeBron had previously expressed confidence in Bronny’s NBA readiness last March. However, after Bronny faced health concerns and a less-than-stellar freshman season at USC, his NBA aspirations may have taken a backseat.
As speculation swirls about Bronny’s future, the question remains: will he continue his education or pursue entry into the 2024 NBA Draft? Time will tell.
