The waiting for Damian Lillard is almost approaching the second month.
According to sources from The Athletic, there has been little progress made on a trade deal for Damian Lillard, even a month after he requested to leave Portland.
Despite warnings from the league to refrain from making further comments about not fulfilling his contract obligations in the event of a trade, Lillard remains determined to play for the Miami Heat.
There remains no shift in Lillard’s mindset and his goal of playing for the Miami Heat in the wake of the league’s initiative to warn Lillard and his agent that any further comments made “suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade” will be subject to discipline, according to sources. It was also a warning to other players and agents.
This warning was also given to other players and agents.
The Heat have been actively working on a trade package, which includes expiring contracts, multiple first-round picks, and possibly involving Tyler Herro being sent to a third team.
Additionally, there could be second-round picks and draft pick swaps included in the potential deal.
Only way this shifts is if another team gives them an offer and they call Dame’s bluff.
Should be interesting to watch this unfold.
