Kyrie being Kyrie.
The Boston Celtics took control early in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, securing a 107-89 victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd at TD Garden on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Luka Don?i? shone for Dallas, scoring 30 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. However, Kyrie Irving, Don?i?’s teammate, had a challenging night, managing only 12 points on 6-of-19 shooting.
Irving, who experienced a rocky two-season stint with the Celtics previously, was met with boos from the Boston crowd but later commented that he had anticipated a louder reaction. “It’s just basketball at the end of the day,” Irving reflected on the crowd’s energy. “I’ve been in this environment before and I’m accustomed to it. My early career relationship with Boston was different. Now, coming here with a veteran team, I feel more settled. Even during past playoff and regular-season games here, the atmosphere has been intense. I actually thought it would be a bit louder tonight. For Game 2, I expect the crowd will continue trying to disrupt me and my teammates.”
