Talk about a red flag.
Kristin Cavallari is opening up about her relationship with former college football player Mark Estes, shedding light on their 13-year age gap and his bond with her children.
On her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast episode aired on Tuesday, March 12, Kristin shared details of their budding romance. Mark met Kristin’s kids and her mother during their first date, which happened the day before Valentine’s Day. Kristin, who shares three children – Camden, 11, Jaxon, 9, and Saylor, 8 – with ex-husband Jay Cutler, revealed that Mark is the first guy her kids have genuinely connected with.
“My kids [previously] met one person [I dated] for literally five minutes. [It] was a musician because they were really excited and big fans of him. [Mark] is the real first guy I’d say they met,” Kristin revealed. “The boys were like, ‘Can I show you my room?’ He’s up there with my kids, seeing their rooms. My boys were so excited about him. I think, more than anything, my kids are really excited for me. My kids really want to see me happy.”
Kristin explained that she had kept her dating life separate from her kids since her split from Jay in 2020. However, seeing her children’s excitement over Mark shifted her perspective. Despite initially separating her dating life from her children, Kristin admitted that Camden, her eldest, even asked for Mark’s number after their first meeting, which led to them texting daily.
Regarding their relationship, Kristin emphasized that she isn’t concerned about public opinion and described it as different from her past experiences. Their love story began in September 2023 when Kristin discovered Mark and his friends’ TikTok account. They eventually connected and started talking, leading to their first date on February 13, where they shared a sweet evening together.
Despite the initial hang-up over their age difference, Kristin expressed her commitment to the relationship, noting that she is following Mark’s lead as he is ready for a serious commitment. She also clarified that her connection with Mark is the first time she has felt genuinely excited about someone since her divorce.
Kristin concluded by stating that she’s unconcerned with public perception, prioritizing her happiness and the genuine connection she shares with Mark.
