Kristin Cavallari candidly reflected on the challenges of co-parenting with her ex-husband Jay Cutler during her appearance on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast Monday. Describing their dynamic as “so up and down,” the reality star claimed there has been “zero f–king consistency” in their attempts to co-parent their three children.
“It’s really hard. It has not been easy, to say the least,” the 37-year-old admitted on the podcast, detailing what she described as a “bumpy road.” However, she recalled one brief moment of hope earlier this year when the two were able to sit together at one of their children’s basketball games.
“Holy f–k, this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it. We can sit next to each other,” Cavallari thought at the time. “And we haven’t sat together since, so I don’t f–king know. What the f–k?”
Holiday Challenges and Family Loss
The “Hills” alum admitted she doesn’t envision spending holidays together with Cutler and their children—Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 9—in the future. While she acknowledged feeling “bummed out” during Christmas due to the lack of a “family unit,” Cavallari clarified that it’s not about wanting Cutler back.
“Coming from divorced parents, the last thing I ever wanted was a divorce,” she explained. “I won’t lie to you, that still creeps up once in a while. … It just sucks that we’re not together as a family.”

Reflecting on Their Marriage
Cavallari and Cutler were married from 2013 to 2020. After a “trauma bond” led to a brief attempt at reconciliation through “a couple dates,” the former NFL quarterback has since moved on and is now engaged to fiancée Samantha Robertson.
Meanwhile, Cavallari has been linked to several high-profile figures, including country singer Morgan Wallen and TikTok star Mark Estes.
Looking back on their relationship, Cavallari called it “toxic” but acknowledged that good things came from it, including their children. “I don’t regret a damn thing,” she said, adding that her marriage mirrored unresolved issues with her father. “I ended up marrying my dad,” she confessed, referencing her now-estranged relationship with her father, whom she described as a “narcissist.”
Addressing Past Rumors
Cavallari also touched on rumors of infidelity that plagued her marriage, specifically speculation that Cutler had an affair with her close friend and “Very Cavallari” co-star, Kelly Henderson. “I really don’t think anything happened,” she said, though she admitted, “F–k, I don’t know to be honest with you. Do I know for sure? No.”
She elaborated on her doubts, saying, “Jay used to trash her, which I now sort of think, if a guy is trashing a girl, there is probably something going on. When you’re dealing with a pathological liar, it’s hard to know what the f–king truth is.”
Cavallari added that she’s come to terms with the unanswered questions from her marriage. “There are things from my marriage that I will never know, and I’ve just sort of had to let that go. I’m over it now.”
Finding Peace Amid the Pain
Despite the challenges, Cavallari said she has found a way to move forward. “I never did [get an apology] and never will,” she said. “But I’ve learned to have empathy and forgive without needing that person in my life.”
She concluded with a lesson she’s learned through the experience: “People who are lying to you or cheating, that’s because they’re hurt. That has nothing to do with me.”
Cavallari’s unfiltered honesty provides insight into the difficulties of navigating co-parenting while healing from a tumultuous relationship. For her, the journey continues—one moment at a time.
