When Kris Jenner asks for a favor, you better pay attention.
Prior to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in April, Tristan Thompson secured a position as a basketball analyst at ESPN. Interestingly, this week’s episode of “The Kardashians” revealed that Kris Jenner played a pivotal role in his hiring.
Thompson’s ESPN hiring took place in January, and a profile in May on Thompson in Andscape indicated that he was brought in to provide commentary on LeBron James, who was on the verge of breaking the all-time NBA scoring record at the time. Although Thompson wasn’t actively playing in the league at the time of his ESPN hiring, he later signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in April.
In the new episode of “The Kardashians” titled “A Step in the Right Direction,” it was revealed that Kris Jenner used her influence to persuade ABC/Disney bosses to hire Thompson.
The episode starts with Kris Jenner welcoming Tristan Thompson, who had recently faced accusations of being an absentee father. Kris mentioned that she was cleaning up “after a little project we were working on.”
Kris added, ‘I was able to reach out to ABC/Disney and really express how talented I thought Tristan was, and they would really benefit from him being a part of the ESPN team, for example.’
During the conversation, Tristan expresses his gratitude, saying, “Everything’s been great. You know, ESPN, obviously, I appreciate you, helping make this all happen.”
‘Yeah, I’m excited, but you made a couple of calls, ding ding ding, you made it happen. You’re like, ‘My boy wants to do ESPN, let’s make it happen, all right,’ Tristan said.
To this, Kris responds with a smile, “Yeah, I’m excited, but you made a couple of calls, ding ding ding, you made it happen. You’re like, ‘My boy wants to do ESPN, let’s make it happen, all right.'”
In a climate where nepotism has been a hot topic in the news, it’s likely that this revelation will stir further discussions and opinions.
