The Chicago Bears conducted an interview with Kliff Kingsbury for their offensive coordinator position on Friday, signaling a proactive approach by the team. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Peter Schrager, the Bears traveled to Los Angeles to meet with the USC senior offensive analyst.
Rapoport humorously discussed the situation on The Pat McAfee Show, highlighting Kingsbury’s assertive move by making the Bears fly out to L.A. for the interview. He characterized it as a bold and confident stance, saying, “You wanna talk to me, come on. I’ll be here if you’ll be here. Then we’ll talk.”
Speculation arises about the Bears’ potential interest in Caleb Williams, considering their concerted effort. Holding the No. 1 draft pick for the second consecutive year, the Bears face a decision between selecting a franchise quarterback or sticking with Justin Fields.

Caleb Williams spent the previous season at USC under Kingsbury’s guidance. Kingsbury, with a notable coaching history at Texas A&M and as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, brings valuable experience. The Trojans faced challenges on defense, but Williams showcased improvement with a 68.4% completion rate and 9.4 yards per pass attempt.
Kingsbury led the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021 with the No. 8 offense but was subsequently let go after a disappointing 4-13 season the following year.
The sustained interest in Kliff Kingsbury by the Bears hints at the possibility of them selecting Caleb Williams with the first pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
