Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is poised to explore NFL free agency amid reported interest from the Atlanta Falcons and previously the Denver Broncos, as outlined by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“While ongoing communication persists between the Vikings and Kirk Cousins’ agent, it appears likely that the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback will enter the free agent market on Monday,” Pelissero stated. “Among the teams expected to pursue Cousins are the Atlanta Falcons and potentially the Denver Broncos as well.”
Although Pelissero mentioned Denver as a potential destination, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Broncos, who are poised to part ways with Russell Wilson after the new league year commences on March 13, will not be actively pursuing Cousins.
Pelissero suggested that Cousins could entertain the idea of returning to Minnesota for the upcoming season, contingent upon receiving the right offer from the Vikings. He indicated that such an agreement would likely require compensation in the ballpark of $40 million with guaranteed money.

Recent reports indicate that the Falcons are prepared to engage in negotiations with Cousins as soon as the tampering window opens, according to Russini.
Cousins, who has been a fixture with the Vikings since 2018, compiled 2,331 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions before his season was cut short by a torn Achilles. He earned $35 million last season as part of an extension inked in 2022.
