Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is reportedly targeting another fully guaranteed contract in the upcoming 2024 NFL free agency period.
According to Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press, there is significant “buzz” that the four-time Pro Bowler, approaching 36 years old, is aiming for a substantial two-year deal worth $90 million in free agency:
“The buzz now is that it will take $90 million guaranteed for two years, despite that he’s still not yet fully recovered from Achilles surgery in November, to sign free agent QB Kirk Cousins. If that’s the case, he certainly won’t get that from the Vikings.”

Cousins is undoubtedly the most prominent quarterback poised to enter free agency this spring. The remaining quarterback pool is not particularly deep, with notable names like Baker Mayfield (expected to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Ryan Tannehill, Jacoby Brissett, Joe Flacco, and Gardner Minshew II.
In 2018, Cousins inked a three-year deal with the Vikings, amounting to a fully guaranteed $84 million. Four years later, he secured a one-year extension, also fully guaranteed, with a substantial value of $35 million.
Before a season-ending Achilles tear against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, Cousins was enjoying another impressive season for the Vikings. Nicknamed “Captain Kirk,” he completed 69.5 percent of his passes, accumulating 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.
Regardless of whether the contract comes from the Vikings or another team, Cousins is poised to secure yet another substantial payday in free agency.
