Creed’s influence was in the air.
In a faceoff between two NFC North teams, the Minnesota Vikings were slightly favored to conquer the Chicago Bears, both of whom had entered Sunday with just one win this season. Minnesota indeed secured a 19-13 victory over Chicago, a win that quarterback Kirk Cousins jokingly attributed to the power of Creed.
Creed has etched its place in NFL history, thanks in part to the iconic halftime show they delivered on Thanksgiving in 2001.
While Creed, often likened to America’s Nickelback, has endured its share of musical opinions, their songs have proven to be a motivating force for various professional sports franchises over time.
Just earlier this month, the Texas Rangers revealed that they harnessed Creed’s power to turn their season around after a midseason slump, ultimately earning a spot in the postseason and the chance to face the Astros in the ALCS.

Inside the Vikings’ locker room, a page was taken from the Texas Rangers’ playbook before their showdown with the Bears. Cousins shared that Garrett Bradbury played a Creed track in the locker room pregame, and the QB quipped, “I felt like that may have made the difference. So we’ve got that going for us.” While the team specifically listened to “Higher,” Cousins hinted at exploring other tracks from Creed’s extensive catalog to maintain the positive vibes.
“They’ve got quite a catalog,” Cousins said. “We started with Higher this week. We didn’t want to over-step our bounds. So just one Higher. Next week, maybe we can see what we go to from there.”
While it’s essential to remember that correlation doesn’t necessarily equal causation, the mounting evidence suggests that Creed may indeed hold the key to gaining a psychological edge on the field. “Can you take me higher?”
