The Atlanta Falcons have finally found their answer to the long-standing quarterback question. Kirk Cousins, the seasoned quarterback, has inked a four-year deal with the team, as confirmed by his agent Mike McCartney on Monday.
At 35 years old, Cousins is returning from a challenging recovery after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon on October 29.
Drafted in the fourth round from Michigan State University in 2012, Cousins has demonstrated over a decade of consistent excellence in the NFL.
Initially serving as a backup for the Washington Commanders, Cousins rose to prominence as a starter in the nation’s capital, where he exhibited impressive stats, completing 67 percent of his passes for 13,176 yards, 81 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions over three consecutive seasons.

After departing Washington following the 2017 season, Cousins joined the Minnesota Vikings, where he enjoyed six successful years, including three Pro Bowl appearances.
During his tenure in Minnesota, Cousins consistently maintained high passing percentages, surpassing 4,200 passing yards four times and throwing 30 or more touchdowns on three occasions.
While he has faced criticism for his performance against formidable opponents, evidenced by his 14-43 record against teams above .500, Cousins remains a sought-after asset for the Falcons.
His arrival marks a significant upgrade for Atlanta, which has struggled with quarterback inconsistency, cycling through three starters – Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, and Taylor Heinicke – over the past two seasons.
Last season, Ridder and Heinicke combined for 3,726 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, highlighting the team’s need for stability at the quarterback position.
After enduring quarterback flux following Matt Ryan’s departure, the Falcons and Cousins are optimistic that the quarterback puzzle has finally been solved.
