The Los Angeles Sparks’ season kicked off with plenty of star power in attendance on Wednesday night.
Kim Kardashian, Magic and Cookie Johnson, and SNL’s Leslie Jones were all courtside to watch the home team Sparks face off against the visiting Atlanta Dream.
Despite their support, the Sparks fell to the Dream 92-81 in a game that was closer than the final score suggested.

New draft picks Cameron Brink from Stanford and Rickea Jackson from Tennessee made their league debuts. Brink scored 11 points on 4-6 shooting, while Jackson added 7 points (3-10) off the bench. Guard Layshia Clarendon recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Brink also made her debut this week as a model for Kardashian’s underwear and clothing line, SKIMS.
With women’s basketball surging in popularity, fans lined up outside the Walter Pyramid at Cal State University in Long Beach an hour before tip-off. The Sparks have moved their game next week against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever to Crypto.com Arena to accommodate more fans.
Clark, the all-time leading scorer in Division One college basketball, was the top pick in the recent WNBA draft and is a significant draw for fans wherever she plays.
