Kevin Durant apparently stinks like weed.
During the CNBC and Boardroom’s Game Plan sports business conference in Los Angeles, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant revealed that he had a meeting with NBA commissioner Adam Silver to discuss removing marijuana from the league’s banned substance list.
Durant mentioned that Silver smelled marijuana on him when they met, which made it easier for him to convey his stance on the issue.
“So what did you tell Adam?” Cronin asked. “How did you persuade him?”
“Well, he smelled it when I walked in,” Durant replied. “So I didn’t really have to say much, you know what I’m saying? He kind of understood where this was going…It’s the NBA, man… everybody does it, to be honest. It’s like wine at this point.”

Durant explained that he felt the stigma around marijuana was decreasing and that it didn’t have any negative effects.
He had previously advocated for the removal of marijuana from the list, and Silver reportedly agreed with him. As a proponent of marijuana, Durant has invested in cannabis-related companies and aims to destigmatize the plant.
Although he doesn’t consider himself a pioneer, Durant’s influence has played a significant role in the NBA’s decision to remove marijuana from its banned substances.
