Looks like the Steelers may have to draw up some new plays. Earlier this week, Steelers QB Kenny Pickett had his playbook stolen from his SUV.
Fortunately, the vehicle and playbook were both rapidly retrieved, and an arrest has been made. According to Marcie Cipriani’s article on WTAE, Pickett was attending an event at a nearby car dealership in Pittsburgh. While at the event, his 2023 Genesis SUV was taken from the car park with the Steelers’ playbook still in the back seat. Thankfully, authorities acted quickly to locate the stolen SUV and the essential playbook.
Via WTAE:
“An arrest has been made in the reported theft of an SUV belonging to Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. A Steelers playbook in the vehicle has also been recovered.
Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has obtained the court paperwork for a man who was arrested in Wednesday’s theft. Pickett had been participating at a local event when the SUV, a 2023 Genesis, was stolen.
Police were able to identify the suspect by running the plates on the suspect’s personal vehicle, which he had left at the dealership after stealing Pickett’s vehicle.”
The suspect who committed the theft had left his own car at the dealership, providing law enforcement with his license number to identify him. Within just half an hour of the theft, the car was found at his residence. Both the vehicle and playbook were safely recovered.
WTAE’s subsequent reports revealed that Christopher Carter, a 60-year-old resident of Murrysville, has been accused of theft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers organization verified to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that their playbook had been in the stolen car.
Kenny Pickett was drafted by the team in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in 13 games as a rookie last year.
