Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker recently criticized President Biden over his “delusional” support for abortion as a practicing Catholic.
The three-time Super Bowl winner expressed his views during a fiery commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. In his address, Butker also criticized the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and voiced his frustrations with various political, religious, and cultural issues.
“You witnessed firsthand how bad leaders who don’t stay in their lane can negatively impact society,” Butker, 28, said early in his 20-minute speech to the graduates of the small Catholic liberal arts school, referencing the COVID-19 lockdowns.
“While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” he continued. “Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, and a growing support for degenerate cultural values and media all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder.”

Butker specifically targeted Biden, saying, “Our nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith but is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally.”
This comment referred to Biden’s use of the gesture, which Catholics often make before and after prayer, while listening to pro-abortion remarks delivered by Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried last month. Biden is America’s second Roman Catholic president.
“He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that many people might think you can be both Catholic and pro-choice,” Butker added.
“He is not alone. From the man behind the COVID lockdowns to those pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America, they all share a common trait — they are Catholic. This is a reminder that being Catholic alone doesn’t cut it,” he argued.
The NFL player urged the new graduates to “stop pretending that the ‘Church of nice’ is a winning proposition,” encouraging them to speak out against what he sees as declining morals.
Biden has repeatedly called on voters to re-elect him in 2024 and to elect a Democratic House and Senate that will codify the right to an abortion nationwide since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
