Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has taken accountability for his recent profanity-laced comments during an Instagram Live session, clarifying that his current team was not the intended target of his frustration.
Instead, Toney revealed that his former team, the New York Giants, was the subject of his impassioned remarks.
Addressing the controversy, Toney emphasized that certain parts of the video were taken out of context and “chopped up” to portray him as attacking his current team, which he vehemently denies. He clarified, “I never attacked the Chiefs, never said anything about the Chiefs.” Toney explained that he was directing his frustrations towards Giants fans and individuals in his comment section, although he acknowledged that it was a mistake to do so.
Acknowledging his errors, Toney asserted, “I’m a man and I can accept my mistakes just like I accept my wins.” He expressed a desire to move past the incident and focus on the team’s goal of winning the Super Bowl.
The Instagram Live rant raised eyebrows, particularly when Toney declared, “I’m not hurt. None of that.” Some interpreted this as a dig at the Chiefs, who had consistently listed him on their injury reports with hip and ankle injuries. However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid clarified that Toney’s injuries were legitimate and not fabricated.

Toney’s tenure with the Giants was marked by struggles, ultimately resulting in his trade to Kansas City last season. He has previously made negative remarks about his former team on social media platforms.
Despite his lackluster performance this season, Toney’s past contributions, including his heroics in the previous Super Bowl, may prompt the Chiefs to give him another opportunity.
In last season’s Super Bowl, Toney played a pivotal role, catching a touchdown pass and returning a punt for 65 yards, leading to another touchdown and securing a title for Kansas City. Presently, Toney is not listed on Kansas City’s injury report.
