Despite not playing in the Bears’ victory over the Panthers on Thursday night, Fields was spotted smiling alongside teammates during the fourth quarter. The narrow win left No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young with yet another frustrating loss in his rookie season.

There were speculations among fans that Fields might have said “Roll Tide” on the sideline, possibly taking a jab at Young’s college career at Alabama.

While some fans interpreted Fields’ smile as confidence in his ability to make an impact when he returns, others reminded him of Ohio State’s loss to Alabama in the 2020 national championship game, where Fields started at quarterback.
Despite Fields’ recovery from a dislocated right thumb and the impressive performance of undrafted free agent Tyson Bagent, the consensus is that the Bears have a better chance of winning with Fields, given his passing and running skills.
However, during this uncertain phase of his career, Fields may want to refrain from taking shots at others.
