Bears fans in Chicago are facing a seemingly never-ending string of disappointments.
In the midst of the Chicago Bears’ 19-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Justin Fields left the game due to a hand injury, and now we have some troubling specifics about the nature of the injury.
Fields endured a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand, which he managed to pop back into place, but it left him unable to properly grip the ball, as reported by FOX’s Jay Glazer.
Despite the initial relief of negative X-rays, a looming MRI scheduled for Monday will ultimately reveal the true extent of the injury.
Fields had completed 6 of 10 passes for 58 yards and suffered an interception before his departure. He had also showcased his rushing abilities with 46 yards. Rookie Tyson Bagent was called in to fill Fields’ shoes, as the Bears currently hold a less-than-promising record of 1-5.

Last season, Chicago recorded a dismal 3-14 performance, and this season doesn’t appear to be an improvement. Fields’ injured thumb on his throwing hand is certainly not a promising development for their chances of achieving success.
It’s beginning to seem like winning this season might no longer be in the cards for the Bears.
