A defamation lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his associates has been dismissed by a judge.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert Schroeder ruled on Wednesday that Alexandra Davis, the plaintiff, had failed to adequately demonstrate that the defendants acted with actual malice, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
Davis, a 27-year-old congressional aide who claims Jones is her biological father, had alleged in her lawsuit that Jones and his associates sought to publicly portray her as an “extortionist” and “shakedown artist.”
The lawsuit, originally filed in U.S. district court in Texarkana in March 2023 and subsequently amended in November, sought a multimillion-dollar payout. However, it was partially dismissed earlier before the recent ruling.

In response to the ruling, Davis’ attorneys Andrew Bergman and Jay Gray expressed disappointment and announced their intention to appeal, believing in their eventual success. They clarified that the ruling does not impact the ongoing paternity suit or Jones’ obligation to undergo genetic testing.
In a separate legal proceeding, a Texas judge previously upheld a ruling requiring Jones to undergo a paternity test to determine his relationship with Davis. Davis asserts that her mother, Cynthia Spencer Davis, had a relationship with Jones in the late 1990s when she was conceived, while Jones denies paternity, claiming that Cynthia’s then-husband is Davis’ biological father.
