It was a challenging evening for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
In the Bills’ 24-18 road defeat to the Bengals, Josh Allen was bewildered by the referees’ decision to flag him for intentional grounding. Allen openly contested the call as soon as it was made and seized the opportunity to express his dissatisfaction during his postgame press conference.
“I’ve never witnessed such a call in my entire career,” Allen exclaimed.
The situation unfolded on a third-and-6 at the Bengals’ 38-yard line with only 28 seconds remaining in the first half when Allen targeted receiver Gabe Davis.
Allen clarified that Davis had the option to choose between stopping or going deep, and he had anticipated Davis would continue running, but the receiver instead halted.
While under relatively light pressure, Allen threw the ball towards the goal line, and it sailed out of bounds without a player nearby. Consequently, the officials penalized Allen for intentional grounding, pushing the Bills out of field goal range.
Though a 56-yard field goal attempt is no guarantee, the Bills had hoped for that opportunity.
To add to the frustration, some of Allen’s old tweets began circulating on social media.

Allen’s final stats for the game were 26 of 38 for 258 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He also contributed 44 rushing yards and scored a rushing touchdown.
Buffalo’s record now stands at 5-4, and they have lost three of their last five games.
Those old Josh Allen tweets will remain in the public eye long after his playing days are over.
